My friends! Did you know that God cannot lie?? He does not have human sin like we do. But you know what He does do?

He makes us promises. Not only that. He is a promise keeper.

God actually promises a lot of things to us throughout the bible. (That’s how I know.) But I’ve compiled a list of 10 promises from God that I wanted to share with you all! Leave a comment and let me know what promise is speaking to your heart right now.

1.) God promises you freedom from sin

This was important to me to list first because it is the first thing about becoming a Christian. We ask for forgiveness of our sins and leave our old life behind. God’s promises are for His children that follow Him, and He wants nothing more than to have us start fresh with Him in our lives.

1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Now, does becoming a Christian mean that all of a sudden we just don’t sin anymore? Nope. Does it mean God forgets us and punishes us because we have sinned? Also, nope.

What it does mean: We will sin, we are human and that is our nature (take a look at Adam and Eve). BUT as we grow closer to God and remain in his Word (read the bible), we naturally learn more about sin, and have a new outlook on temptation. We may still fail at times, but God wants us to RUN to Him.

Jesus died so that our sins would be forgiven! God sacrificed His Son so that we may have eternal life with Him. God loves us.

1 John 4:10 This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

2.) God provides a way out of temptation

God does not leave us to deal with anything alone. We will never have anything we can’t get through. It’s a mind shift.

What do I mean by that?

If we had a temptation before we became Christian.. Let’s take sexual impurity for instance. Sex before marriage to be specific.

That’s a tough one because the world says it is okay. Do you know what happens when you have sex before marriage? A soul tie. If you don’t know what that is, a soul tie is a connection between two people’s spirits. They form deep bonds that impact both people.

God created this to be a positive thing. A healthy soul tie brings a husband and wife closer together in love. When you are not married, it is extremely hard to break off a relationship because you are literally tied to their soul! (You can break soul ties, but like I said.. It’s hard). It’s also why maybe you keep finding yourself “stuck” in toxic relationships. Why a breakup was way emotionally harder than it should have been, or why you keep running back to that person that treats you horrible.

Just like any parent, God has rules. His rules are there to protect us.

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13

In this instance, how can you avoid temptation of sexual impurity? First, pray. Second, grab a friend that will keep you accountable. Third, do not go to their home (or yours) without a third person there that also will keep you accountable. I always talk about how important it is to get into community. This is one example right here of why I say that. A friend that will keep you accountable 9.9 times out of 10 will also have the same values.

3.) God promises that nothing can separate you from Him

Friend, there’s nothing that can separate you from God. We mess up and He still forgives us. All we have to do is ask. Now, I am not saying to do whatever you want and then say you’ll just ask for forgiveness later. We learn from our mistakes, we become better, and when you form that relationship with God, you will want to do better because you love Him.

Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love – not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us – nothing in the whole created world – will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

4.) God promises us that He will prosper you and give you hope

He doesn’t want to hurt you. He wants you to have a good life. We all go through ups and downs, but there is a light shining at the end of the tunnel. I promise you.

When I thought there was no reason to live anymore; I felt that I was unlovable and was a burden to everyone I came in contact with. When I didn’t want to go on. God gave me hope.

Looking back now, I wouldn’t change a thing that I went through; Out of my brokenness, God’s glory shines brighter and I have been able to help other people through their own pain. Had I not gone through all of that, I wouldn’t be able to help those that I have (and still do) reach to.

If you’re going through hard times right now, I promise you.. It will not last forever. Look to God to help you through it.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

5.) God promises to be with you

He is with us in the good times and the bad times. Even when you can’t see it.

I wasn’t following a “Christian” lifestyle when God saved me. I didn’t even realize it until some time later actually. I have a very vivid picture in my head now of sitting there crying my heart out and begging for the hurt to stop. I also see Jesus sitting there holding my hand and crying with me telling me “not yet”.

If you haven’t read my testimony yet, you can read it here.

God was here in my darkest moments and He was here when I jumped for joy when I found out I was pregnant! He does not leave us.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5

6.) God promises to answer your prayers

This is a hard one. Trust me I know. You are praying and praying but it seems like God isn’t listening. The most important thing I can say is, God’s timing. A day, week, or even month is not a long time in God’s eyes. He has a reason why things last as long as they do.

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Sometimes.. Maybe our sister that had cancer didn’t beat it. No matter how much we pray. We don’t always have the answers why, except that God’s plan is bigger than ours. You just have to trust that God knows what He is doing.

Isaiah 57:1-2 says: Good people pass away; the godly die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.

Sometimes we go through things and it’s not about us. It’s so that we can help or even prevent someone else going through it later (ex. our kids). I’ve been through some pretty tough things in my life and now, looking back, (I know I already said it, but..) I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s not about asking God to take away the pain necessarily, it’s about asking God to help you through it.

7.) God promises to take care of all of your needs

Notice I said needs. God is a good God. The same way that He fed the 5,000 from 5 loaves of bread and two fish, He also meets our needs. We can pray for our wants. But for example, He might not give us our want of a million dollars. But He will meet our need to buy food to put on our table. He takes care of us.

“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?” Matthew 6:26

Something to note: God gives us what we need.. But just like birds have to fly and find their food, we also have to do our part for God’s plan to come to fruition.

8.) God promises to give you rest

Life can be… Exhausting. It can emotionally drain us when we are in a tough season. Or it can be draining and discouraging when we are trying to do it all on our own. We are not meant to do anything alone!

We are meant to go to God. No matter how small, He wants to be there and guide us and help us with everything. How do I know that? Because Jesus told us:

Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Jesus didn’t say “Oh if you’re exhausted and overwhelmed because your school assignment is hard, that’s not important.. don’t come to me.” No! For everything that makes your heart heavy, go to Him! He said it himself! How awesome that we have such an amazing God that HE cares about our troubles and wants to take them on himself so our hearts can be at ease and have rest.

9.) God promises to protect you

There are so many bible verses about God protecting us. In this world there will be trouble (John 16:33). But God protects us from it. He helps us through. We can get so caught up in trying to defend ourselves because we feel like we are the only ones protecting ourselves. I have multiple verses to show you that, no.. We aren’t.

Honestly, when we do it ourselves, we’re actually really bad at it and the results are not what we would have expected. If you’re trying to defend yourself.. You may just end up looking worse instead of innocent like you intended. (Trust me, I know this from experience.)

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Psalms 91:2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.

“People will make weapons to fight against you, but their weapons will not defeat you. Some people will say things against you, but anyone who speaks against you will be proved wrong.” The Lord says, “That is what my servants get! They get the good things that come from me, their Lord.” Isaiah 54:17

10.) God promises to fight for you

Just like how God fought for the Israelites in Exodus as they left Egypt, He will fight for you.

“You will not have to do anything but stay calm. The LORD will do the fighting for you.”

Exodus 14:14

God sees everything. God gives justice. Don’t worry about other people’s thoughts or views of you if someone is making up rumors. God will bring it to light in His timing.

Deuteronomy 20:4 “For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

There is so much that God promises us, this is a short list but a powerful one. God is so so good! The creator of the world, the creator of heaven and earth, the creator of the sun and moon… also created you. Not only that, but he leaves the 99 just to chase you and bring you back to Him.

Wow. It’s time you realize.. You are that important!

My friend… God’s Got You.
